Introduction The DSM-5 defines dissociation as “disruption of and/or discontinuity in the normal integration consciousness, memory, identity, emotion, perception, body representation, motor control, and behavior”. disorders this group include depersonalization/derealization disorder, dissociative amnesia, identity last being a controversial entity. Dissociative are associated with elevated levels disability, impaired quality life, high economic cost, significantly increased risk suicide attempts. Objectives In work we present case 21-year-old man that was assisted Emergency Room symptoms. We intend to do non-systematic review on subject symptoms, psychiatric which they present, identified factors, how access psychopathology features recommended treatment best address them. Methods For comprehensive approach proceeded PubMed using following keywords “dissociation”, “dissociative disorder” disorders”. Results describing symptoms were suggestive disorder. He referred out-of-body experiences sense he not controlling his actions while self-injuring himself aggressive towards family. described “three Selfs”: “Normal Self”, “Suicidal Self” “Bad Self”. Symptoms variety mental namely depression, anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress borderline personality disorder eating disorders. appear be linked trauma, interpersonal stress, strongly history chronic child abuse. An association alexithymia, depression suicidality also found. Some studies found structural functional abnormalities, particularly reduction grey matter volume limbic system structures, dysregulation prefrontal–limbic circuitry dysfunction hypothalamic–pituitary-adrenal axis. Psychotherapy appears cornerstone for Cognitive-Behavior therapy Eye-movement desensitization reprocessing. Conclusions only but may almost all evaluation possible should part every psychopathological assessment. There is need further better understand diagnostic entity improve therapeutic intervention.
